It’s been exactly one week since I lost my job, which is why I’ve returned to resurrect the ghost of my former newsletter.
While this is not the first post of the third iteration of ‘West Coast Bias Sports,’ it’s my first time writing it sans a full time job since the days of the pandemic.
It’s nice to have carte blanche to write about whatever suits my fancy again, to be honest, though the thought of doing so without a paycheck to float the financial boat is giving me a new level of anxiety previously unknown to mankind.
As I wait to see which shop winds up lending me harbor in the raging storm of artificial intelligence and institutional hubris that is modern society, I figure I might as well write a few short posts that help keep me sane as I throw applications into the virtual wind.
Consider today’s post an official, virtual reintroduction of sorts, as I plan on posting a couple of newsletters a week while I’m between jobs about anything that tangentially touches on the Pac-12 (both past and future).
You, dear reader, have already been introduced to this plan via the three newsletters that I posted in the days after I hit the journalism transfer portal.
Expect more of the same in the weeks and months (lets hope it’s the former) that come as I drift through the job-seeking void. If you have a particular story theme that you think I should pursue, feel free to shoot me an email ([email protected]) or even text me (443-995-8538).
This newsletter’s all about the highs and lows of amateur sports, though I want to continue writing essays and data-driven pieces about the summer’s WNBA slate as well.
For now, all I can say is that West Coast Bias Sports will continue to fill the void in my life that revolves around the teams that once called (or are about to call) the Pac-12 home, which will hopefully keep my writing skills sharpened so I can cut down on the gap in my résumé this time around.
Until then, sit back and (hopefully) enjoy the content that I’m able to craft as I wait on my next job opportunity to arise.
